Junior ADU (JADU)
Create a Compact Unit Within Your Existing Home
About Our Junior ADU (JADU) Services
A Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU) is a small living space of up to 500 square feet created within the existing footprint of your primary home. JADUs are carved out of existing bedrooms, bonus rooms, or other underutilized spaces and must include a cooking facility (which can be an efficiency kitchen) and a separate entrance. They may share a bathroom with the main home, making them the simplest and most affordable ADU option.
California law allows you to build both a JADU and a standard ADU on the same single-family lot, giving homeowners the ability to add two additional units to their property. This makes JADUs an excellent strategy for maximizing density and rental income without any new construction on your lot. CCS Inc. designs JADUs that feel like independent apartments while maintaining the structural integrity and flow of your primary home.
JADUs are especially popular among homeowners who want to house a college student, elderly parent, or caregiver within arm's reach. Because they require no new foundation or exterior construction, JADU projects can be completed in as little as 6-10 weeks with minimal disruption to the household. Permit fees are also significantly lower - often under $1,000.
