A Notice of Code Violation (NOCV) is a formal citation issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) when a property is found to violate the Los Angeles Municipal Code. These notices are typically triggered by inspections, complaints, or data-matching programs that identify unpermitted work, illegal conversions, or unsafe conditions. Each NOCV includes a case number, violation description, required corrections, and a compliance deadline.
